Poor study skills and inappropriate classroom behavior are some of the things you have to deal with when you are a teacher. Most kids go through behavioral issues, and it is part of growing up. It is not the same for everyone for some it’s more than for others. Behavior is one of the ways you can differentiate btw the special one and the regular ones. Let’s look at several ways you can manage classroom behavior.

Tell the students what your behavior expectations are about. Concerning their behavior tell the students what is required of them at the start of every school year. Create states that will keep the students in check from the first day they attend school. The laws should be a tradition for the students and involve the students in creating the rules. Create signs that become warning signs if someone is in the wrong. Be keen to see how well they are following the rules.,

Inform them of their behavior after you have monitored it for some time. If a student has forms of disruptive behavior curb it at early stage and always stay close to them and understand them well. Use severe voice and gestures to remind a student who is involved in bad behavior. Rewarding ethical behavior is something you should always do in a classroom.

Reinforcement such us social, exercise, physical, consumable and harmful strengthening should be applied in making sure that the rules are followed. Tokens can be used to reward good behavior instead of using tangible rewards. The symbols can be used later to backup reinforcement. But if you are dealing with older students the best reinforce using contingency contracts. The contract is made by both you and the student stating that they will get a particular reward for good behavior. Shaping is a word used to explain a method used to teaching good behavior in tiny bits. Existing, as well as new behaviors, can be taught using shaping.

Explain your behavior expectations using a model. When one of the students does something right use them as an example explaining that’s what you want from the rest. If you are dealing with a particular student use people of their age to teach the kind of behavior they should have. This way you will be meeting on both sides. The students should take part in the program of improving their behavior by creating goals, preventing situations that could affect their behavior, assessing themselves and knowing how they should be rewarded for their excellent response. The behavior management program should also include the parents.
